The dejection and sorrow of Lord Ramachandra was due to the ecstacy of separation (vipralambha) from His own hladini sakti, Sitadevi. But Vyasadeva was depressed because he factually could not figure out why he was not fully satisfied even after compiling the Vedas & Vedanta-sutra. So I feel both dejections cannot be equated.
