Guest guest
> Since you don't see the difference between a follower of Vedic culture and > a Christian, I guess you don't see nothing wrong in killing and eating > cows. Your guess is wrong, Prabhuji. No need to shoot with cannons at a fly. When I said that I developed a certain appreciation of some aspects of western culture I did of course not refer to meat eating and cow killing. I was merely thinking of nice roads, clean toilets, buses, planes and trains which arrive in time, hygienic hospitals, good drinking water, crystal clear rivers and lakes, nice parks and gardens, phones which work, government offices and authorities which handle your affairs efficiently or handle your affairs at all, courts which do not take a decade or two to look into a crime, policemen who do not let you get away with murder for a bribe of 100 rupies, politicians who do not slide tax money into their own pocket while kids are starving etc. I wrote what I wrote simply to express amazement about Madhusudani Radha being labelled a shameless madwoman just because she presented some statistics which showed that there is a good deal of moral degradation in modern India. I did not mean to glorify christianity or minimize the glories of vedic culture. I love India and vedic values and that is why it breaks my heart to see some of the things Indians are doing to their own country and culture. As you live in Vrindavana, you have seen the horrible substances that pollute the Yamuna. Why do Indians tolerate this? Christians are cow killers and that´s an unexcusable sin but at the same time they keep their countries somewhat clean, at least superficially. So is there any harm in emulating *that* part of christian culture? Actually it is not christian culture. It is sattva guna. Cleanliness is next to godliness. So if India is the emblem of vedic culture, it has to establish more cleanliness in its towns, its politics, in everything. Then there is a chance that the west will begin to respect or adopt vedic culture. Until then India will continue to be disregarded even by the mlechhas. And please don´t tell me that the degradation of indian village culture is all the fault of the westerners. It takes two to tango. The british left India in 1947. Out of their own accord, Indians continue to eagerly embrace western technology, western collaboration, western life style etc. ys Anantarupa das PS: Did you know that India is one of the greatest exporters of cow leather for the production of shoes and leather jackets in the west? These things are going on and we have to call a spade a spade. At the same time I do acknowledge Krishna Kirtis point that we should not overgeneralize and say that everything about India is bad. There is so much the west can learn from India and there is also a lot that India can learn from the west.
