I don't disgree with that, Mataji. I was just questioning whether Mother

Sraddha also thought that the devotees were *really* proud, or if perhaps

the nondevotees were being unfair in that judgement. Like sometimes people

would think that Srila Prabhupada was very falsely proud. But that was their

unfortunate mistake.

 

I agree that if we are neophyte devotees, proud and unfriendly, then we

cannot be compassionate and mercful toward others.

Yes, that is the essential point. It depends on whether or not they are

actually *following the principles* of their religious process. If so, they

will further advance, human life after human life (not mice or ants taken

birth in the church), until they go back to Godhead. At least that is my

understanding.

Not at all. In Bg, Krsna describes pride as one of the demonic qualities.

develop these necessary qualities, the ornaments of the Vaisnava, so that I

Unfortunately, many of us follow the "revised" version of Lord Caitanya's

Siksasta prayers: "I may be lower than the straw in the street, but -- thank

God -- I'm better than any karmi!"

 

(I haven't heard yet whether the revised version actually works to get you back

to Godhead -- but at least it makes you feels good -- for the moment!)

I'm just joking, Prabhu. I hope you did not take this seriously. Some

people feel good just because they think they are superior to someone

else. Thus some of us are pleased to feel superior to the so-called

"karmis." But, actually, these feeling of superiority are contrary to the

mood of Lord Caitanya, and they don't help us on the road back to Godhead.

 

Is that more clear for you now?
