The sannyas order is forbidden in this age. However, Sri

Mahaprabhu introduced it for Gaudiya Vaisnavas. The reason

was to make people in general show more respect to Krsna

bhaktas. In India, people by culture offer obeisances and

respects to such sadhus who walk around with dandas. That

was the reason why He took sannyas Himself.

I suppose this might be the answer on your question, why

some ISCKON members would take sannyasa. It should be done

in the mood and for the reason that Mahaprabhu demonstrated.

Something similar was done by Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati

Thakura; he introduced brahmin threads, for the sake of

having Indian people respect Gaudiya Vaisnavas as brahmanas,

on the they were respecting smarta brahmanas due to their

carrying a brahmin thread.

Well, that's why a sannyas in iSCKON, I can thus conclude: So when

you see him, you offer him your humble obeisances and respects, and

then you get the chance to make your spiritual advancement by

honoring Krsna's dear devotee (even if unknowingly). Otherwise,

no use.
