Guest guest
Dear Devotees, Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! We are happy to announce the installation of Sri Sri Krsna Balarama and inauguration of Their new temple. The festival will begin on the 13rd with Vastu Puja, and culminates on Balaram Jayanti, which is the 15th of August. The temple started in 1980 as a simple farm project on an empty plot of land in the beautiful countryside of eastern Mauritius, overlooking the Indian Ocean. During the course of the years, as more support was coming forth from the pious inhabitants of Mauritius, the project expanded to include a traditional Bharatpur-style temple. In 1994, the Ananta Sesa was placed in the ground to support the temple itself, and it took six years to complete the construction. The temple is embellished with red sandstone imported from Karoli, Rajasthan, the same type as found in the Radha Govinda temple in Vrindavan. The dome is entirely clad in white marble, and a beautiful Sudarsana Chakra (exact replica of the one in Jagannath Puri) graces the 70-foot high dome. We request the blessings of the worldwide community of Vaisnavas for the successful completion of this project, which is the culmination of 25 years of ISKCON in Mauritius. We hope this temple will have the same spiritual potency as other major ISKCON temples around the world, inspiring the Mauritian people to become more Krsna conscious and thus fulfill Srila Prabhupada's prediction that Mauritius can become the first Krsna conscious country in the world... We also invite all ISKCON devotees to visit us and enjoy darshan of Sri Sri Krsna Balaram in Their new temple! We will be posting photos of the installation ceremony and Their Lordships in the next few days.
