Nijmeegse vierdaagse

Kindly attention for the following:

 

On 17,18,19 and 20th of July there is here in Holland the 85th "Nijmeegse

vierdaagse".

It's an annual, very well known and popular walking-parade for 4 days, in

the area of Nijmegen (Gelderland).

The walking distance each day is 30, 40 or 50 kilometers.

This year 40,000 people from all over the world are expected to take part.

There is a lot of publicity around this happening: TV, radio, newspaper etc.

 

A bit in the mood of padayatra and parikrama, we got the idea to take part

with a group of devotees! and in that way strive, both for nice

devotee-association and preaching at the same time.

 

I just received the information-brochure from the organizers.

After speaking with them they had no objection to a group of Hare Krishna

devotees chanting and dancing during the parade! (although as a general rule

they forbid participants to express political intentions).

The subscription-fee is f42,50 and registration has to be done before the

15th of June, preferably. After this date registration is only possible in

Nijmegen itself on 13, 14 and 16th of July at f75,-.

The idea is to choose for the 30km option. The time of starting the daily

walk is between 07.30h and 08.00h. Arrival around 15.00h. We will put tents

on a camping place, for devotees to stay. We will have Gaura-Nitai Deities

on the camping and arrange for cooking.

There is a very good chance that Mahavishnu Swami is taking part as well as

Amiyavilas Swami and we are also approaching devotees in Germany, Denmark

and England. We also hope for, at least part-time, participation of Kadamba

Kanana Swami.

 

The 4 days walk is just in between two Ratha Yatra's. The 14th Ratha Yatra

Rotterdam and 21st Ratha Yatra The Hague. We will try to add another special

festival on either sunday the 15th or the 22nd in the form of an grand

open-air 'Sunday love-feast' in the 'Vondelpark' in Amsterdam. (like in 'old

days'). In this way the whole period of 14 till 22nd of July will be one big

Hare Krishna festival, where the holy name will vibrate lavishly.

We hope very much for as many devotees as possible to take part, because

especially then will we be succesful in capturing Lord Caitanya's mercy, Who

will shower His mercy at these times most profusely.

 

We don't know yet the costs for staying at the camping and prasadam but

everything will be at minimum costs.

If you feel that walking for 30 kms a day is too much, then you can still

take part in activities at the camping and just be around.

There is opportunity also for different services like assisting with

cooking, prasadam-distribution, bhajan&theater performance, media-preaching

etc.

Just two things:

1. Get a subscription-form. This you can do by phoning 0031243655500 and you

will get it sent at home.

If you don't want to take part in the 4 day's walk but want to camp with us,

or if you want to help in any way, then also please contact me privately.

before 15th of June), your stay and your prasadam! (travel expenses to and

from Holland for own account).
