I am writing this because there seems to be no other active conference to

which I can write. Never any response from Holistic health.

A senior devotee has had Hepatitis C for 30 years and is getting treatment

where I am in Bangkok.

We are not sure how the treatment is going because it has to be verified by

blood tests to see for sure. The most significant test is called PCR

Quantity test. PCR means polymerase chain reaction and quantity refers to

quantity of virus in the blood. It has to do with looking at the nucleic

acid after blowing it up a couple of million times. Enough techno jargon.

There are 3 types of measurement. One is copies / ml . Another which is now

becoming standard world-wide is IU / ml (IU meaning International Units).

For example my recent test showed ~ 250,000 IU/ml and 512,000 copies / ml.

Both were given and you can see that the second is almost twice the first

although they are for the same blood sample.

This devotee had 28.66 MEQ / ml and has now gone down to ~14.5 MEQ / ml (ml

being millilitre). What I need is some Doctor (doesn't have to chant 64

rounds and live at Radha Kunda) to tell me more about this measurement. Is

his PCR high. I know M means million - so 28 million, but how does this

compare with my PCR. Some information so we can understand whether he is

getting benefit from the treatment and what I can expect.

You could reply privately to sridhar.swami (AT) pamho (DOT) net so as not to bother

anyone else with my trivia.

Your humble servant

Sridhar Swami
