Description of Course: A three-day intensive course in the development of basic helping skills. Areas covered include reflective listening, attending and non-verbal behavior, questioning, concreteness, immediacy, suicide prevention, perspectives on finding solutions, accountability, assertiveness, and conflict resolution. The structure of the course emphasizes participatory exercises for practical skill acquirement. The course will be conducted by Dhira Govinda dasa (David B. Wolf, Ph.D.). Dhira Govinda holds a Ph.D. in social work and has taught counseling skills since the early 80s. He has more than a dozen years of experience in various mental health and social service fields, and currently serves as of the ISKCON Central Office of Child Protection.
