Guest guest
Dear devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. My name is Purna Tattva dasa and I am serving in Belgium since 1977 and since 15 years as the head of the Antwerp temple. I like to tell you about an inspiration I had the other day in connection to the Xmas-marathon. This year the Gitajayanti is on Thursday 7 December. Last year we celebrated this event and read all the verses of the Bhagavad-gita together. This year we shall do this again. I was contemplating on this event and thought that after Sri Krishna spoke the Gita to Arjuna, Arjuna got a strong inspiration to fight the battle at Kuruksetra. The battle lasted for 18 days. 18 days of fighting. So I calculated that 7 December plus 18 days makes this year exactly 25 December, the birthday of Jezus Christ, the great Vaishnava who sacrificed his life in the battle against adharma. I thought after hearing the Gita we can also fight for Krishna for 18 days. I was very much enthused by this idea. Why not inspire all our members, friends etc. of our society to do at least one book a day. The temple and travelling bookdistributors can have a longer marathon, but why not have a marathon for all our namahatta members and friends which will last minimum 18 days. So every member can fight his and her own battle of Kuruksetra. It's symbolic but could work as a strong inspiration in our society if it becomes a part of our programs, I mean institutionalised. The Jehova Witnesses have their way of inspiring the congregation by distributing one day a week. So at least it must be possible to get all our members and friends out for 18 days, with the Gita Yajanti cellebrationday as its starting point, even if whe inspire them to do 1 book per day, if it is done worldwide every year, the result will be significant. The ideology of fighting your own battle could be a great inspiration, especially if this idea is inspired and backed up by the GBC body. People need something, some ideology to fight for. This program would be especially for the Nama Hatta's, preaching centres and Bhakta-vriksagroup members. Thank you for your valuable time and attention. Yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada.
