Guest guest
Asian Age, New Delhi, Sept. 06 In a significant decision to boost foreign tourist arrivals, the Home Ministry has agreed in principle to grant visa-on-arrival to visitors from 16 countries at airports in Delhi and Mumbai, to begin with. "The Home Ministry has, in principle, agreed for starting the visa-on-arrival scheme. The actual modalities are being worked out," a Ministry spokesman said. The countries whose visitors would be able to avail this facility are Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Japan, Germany, Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, France and Spain, the spokesman said. The proposal for this scheme had come from the Union Tourism Ministry under which a foreigner could avail this facility after landing in India, besides getting a tourist visa from the Indian mission in his country. The spokesman said the procedure would be that a foreigner tourist from any of these countries would have to approach one of the special counters set up for the purpose on arrival. The foreigner would have to fill an application form, appear for a brief spot interview and deposit the required visa fee. (PTI)
