Every year so many devotees go to India to attend festivals or go on

pilgrimage, or to go shopping for temple stores or personal business. For

the veteran India goers who know their way around it is a return to a

familiar place. For many others, however, it is an exciting first journey to

an ancient land of spiritual bliss and culture. A substantial amount of

these first-timers will go through culture shock, acclimatize poorly in the

limited time available, get cheated left and right, have a hard time getting

around and dealing with the lack of western amennities, and not seldom

return with a devastating disease as a life-long companion and reminder.
