Hey, everybody! I just talked to Bhaktin Chloe!! Isn't that just so great?!

Where did I leave everyone last? I think her chest tubes came out. Yesterday

they took Chloe off the ventilator. To do that, they had to reduce her pain

meds and the sedation meds. They had to ensure that she had her gag reflex.

I spoke to Emily today to check up on Chloe, and Chloe, who is very weak,

can hardly speak, cannot even move her arms, *demanded* that her mother put

her on the phone to me! And, the little brat (she says affectionately),

after me telling her everyone's praying for her, had the audacity to ask me

if I've been going to Mangal Arati!

Mangal Arati is our dancing time together, so she wanted to check up on me

to make sure I was still going even though she's not there! My Chloe's back,

at least in spirit. Feisty kid!

Still, she's still in critical condition and it's going to be a slow road to

full recovery. The fact that she sucked on some ice chips this morning is a

really big deal. She's got to recover not only from the effects of the

meningitis, but also from the major invasion of the surgery to her chest.

Then there's the dialysis process that's going to go on for some weeks, and

also her poor little toes. I haven't asked about them recently but I imagine

they'll leave dealing with those as long as possible so that her other

healing can take place.

I'm hoping to go visit her while she's recovering. I don't think she'll be

back here any time soon, and it will be the long recovery process that could

get her down. Once she's home, I'll get an email address for her, and

perhaps some of you could take the time to write encouraging words. I know

it's easy to pray for someone while things are critical but it's the

recovery period that she'll really need to hear that devotees are there for

her.

Your servant,

Madhumati devi dasi
