"The outreach program in the Schizophrenia clinic at Chennai (Madras, India) is attended by 50 patients. This program which was being conducted by one of our Bhakti Vrksa leaders Bhakta Ramanathan Prabhu and his wife, got expanded into two in a week on the request of the doctors. Now HG Leelavathi Radha Devi Dasi and Bktn. Dr. Vasanthi Sekkizhar are conducting these outreach programs who are giving this amazing report: Whenever I enter that place the patients are able to recognize that we are Hare Krishna people. We do kirtans, narrate pastimes of Krishna, perform Arati. They love to hear Krishnas pastimes. They answer the questions that are asked after hearing the pastimes. At the end of the program they like to sing Narasimha kirtan. The Doctor has said that there is lot of improvement in patients. So they have introduced the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra as a regular prayer in the morning everyday. The Director of Schizophrenia clinic has reported that the patients are improving and started responding very well for the treatment with the chanting of Hare Krsna. We were amazed when the doctors remarked that the patients who were depressed and had no reactions in their faces earlier for anything that was happening around them, had miraculous changes in them! They show facial expressions like smiling, saying Thank you, brushing, combing, dressing on their own. They also relate to their family members about our Hare Krsna program which is making them joyful. - Leelavathi Radha Devi Dasi ---------- Your servant, Prema Padmini dd
