Guest guest
Dear Prabhus: Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I haven't been updating you all about Chloe because they banned me from phoning the hospital! I guess too many of us were phoning about her & driving the ICU people crazy. But, I called anyway, and I'm happy I did. Chloe is moving out of ICU today! Into a regular room! She's recovering from the pneumonia. She's been sitting up. She drank mango lassi last night. And today - ta da- she ate spaghettios! (Vegetarian) Turns out it was only two bites, but hey, the kid's eating, and that's a miracle. I spoke to her again tonight. She'd forgotten that she'd spoken to me last week - she said, "I've been pretty sick, you know." I had to laugh, and told that I do know, and the whole world does too. I said that she must not remember what she said to me, and when I told her, she asked, "So have you been going to mangala arati?Yes, my dear, I've been getting it together." I mean, I might not find it important enough for myself and my own spiritual life to go, but I'll certainly do it for her. Perhaps that comes from being a mother: we tend to forget about ourselves, but for our kids we'll do anything. She's my adopted girl and I want her to get better. And, she wasn't the only one to ask, so I've got to do it! And isn't that the point? That we do things out of love? I have no love for Krsna, but there are devotees I love, and if it makes a difference to them if I go to mangala arati, I'll do it. So, even as I pray for Chloe, she's inspiring me in my devotional life. We need to endeavour with patience and enthusiasm, and she sure is a great example. I can't wait until she's back.
