Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada !

 

January 14th is Makar Sankranti (the day when the Sun starts his northern

journey). So what !!!

 

Well, it is also the day when, in 1978, Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari opened

their temple in Bombay. Overseen by 3 big Government ministers, thousands of

dignitaries and devotees the priest Nrsimha performed the prana pratistha.

 

Since that day Sri Sri Radha Rasabihari temple has been a world leader in

book distribution, life membership, street sankirtan and Food for Life. We

have many Rathayatras throughout the year and we have the largest active

congregations in the world (many initiated devotees). Our fund-raising is a

model for temples world-wide.,

 

On Sundays the crowd reaches 25,000 + and on special holidays it is more

(especially when there is nothing interesting on TV). On Janmasthami the

crowds surge to well over 500,000 (by police estimates).

 

All the mercy of the most merciful Srila Prabhupada and his Lord Rasabihari.

 

To celebrate this auspicious day we are holding a grand festival.

 

And you are invited !!!

 

It will also be a reunion of devotees who were here during those pioneering

days. In fact the major stress is on Prabhupada katha. Srila Prabhupada

spent more time at Hare Krsna Land than at any other temple in the world. A

whole volume of the Lilamrta is dedicated primarily to Bombay.

 

There are so many stories untold and to be retold.....

As I said the main emphasis will be on Prabhupada katha, but there will be

many cultural events including a three cart Rathayatra in the vacinity of

the temple and full use of the auditorium.

 

Annapayini dasi, Hema Malini and a host of world renouned performers will be

offering their service in the form of concerts.
