Guest guest
Due to a double Purnima tithi occurring this weekend in India, Malaysia, Singapore and some other countries in the region, take note that Caturmasya and Damodara vrata will end only on the second Purnima tithi on Sunday 09NOV2003 (and not a day earlier as printed in ISKCON calendars based on the vcal program). There are some "bugs" in the vcal program, one of which is that it goes wrong on the rare occasions when a double Purnima occurs at the end of Damodara masa. By a bizarre coincidence, a similar double Purnima tithi occurred at the same juncture last year for some countries including India, and due to the error generated by the calendar program, some temples in India published the wrong dates in their calendars and even ended Caturmasya vrata and their ghee lamp offerings to Lord Damodara one day earlier. Temple presidents should see to it that the mistake is not repeated this year too in celebrating the Damodara Purnima events. One classical Vedic Astrological text actually warns of severe repercussions for leaders who mistime the Damodara Purnima celebration in their area of jurisdiction! This time the Damodara Purnima coincides with a lunar eclipse. Eclipse precautions will apply for the duration of the timings shown below (convert to your local time zone).
