I am on the stage at the front of Their altar, it's 7am, and we're listening to kirtan and waiting for the opening of the doors of the altar... This place is electric -- there's no other word for it. Thousands of people are crowding the entrances, but inside it is relatively calm. The organizers have done an amazing job, and it's very well controlled. There is a moving darshan area that allows everyone to see Sri Panca-tattva during the ceremony. You can line up as many times as you like, and see Them as often as you like, but it has to keep moving. In the front, we have Srila Prabhupada's disciples seated on mats, and the donors and patrons also. In the temple courtyard, there are television screens everywhere so no one misses out. In Radha Madhava's temple, there are big screens up, and even next to Sri Panca-tattva there are screens. But even if you're at the back, you can see, because Sri Panca-tattva are so big that no one will miss Their darshan. It's a wonderful festive atmosphere, and from where I'm standing I can see Ramabhadra prabhu from New York on Radha Madhava's altar, offering a camara to Their Lordships; behind me a row of sannyasis and Prabhupada's disciples. Once again we're about to be given darshan of these beautiful forms that have come once again to Navadwip. Their mercy knows no limit: it's coming from Them in waves. Everyone here is effected by the atmosphere... Stay tuned...next instalment when the doors open! A roar just went through the crowd-the pujaris have started the abhiseka! Yoghurt has been rubbed into the bodies of Their Lordships, and Sridhara Maharaja is pouring milk over Lord Caitanya as I write this; Adwaita Acharya is being bathed in milk by Jayapataka Swami, the devotees are shouting and roaring, the conch shells are blowing, the kirtan is going through the roof, and everyone, everyone is chanting! It's the spiritual world here, there is no doubt at all…I wish there were words to describe this vision: see the photos attached! Aindra prabhu is leading the kirtan, it's my favorite Vrindavan bhajans tune, and I wish also I could plug the audio in here so you can hear this sound vibration, it's incredible! Everyone in the temple is chanting, it's amazing -- the Deities are being rubbed down with ghee…through the thin silk chaddars, we can see the most exquisitely carved gamshas that the stapathis carved into Their forms. Each one is different: Adwaita's is a circular pattern; Nityananda's is striped; by far the most beautiful is Gadadhara's, a complicated, intricate paisley pattern that defies description. The altar is awash with pancamrita, which is being directed through a tunnel out the side of the temple and collected in huge buckets. Anyone who wants the mercy should get out there and get those splashes!! The liquids trickling off the bodies of the Lords is absolute poetry in motion…..so beautiful. Sridhara Maharaj is still up behind Nityananda, now he is taking a silver kailash of milk, with the help of Devamrita Swami, and pouting it over Nityananda's body...oh wow, this kirtan is incredible -- get a copy of Aindra's Vrindavan Mellows, turn it on, and watch these images, and you'll get a taste of what it's like being here….thousands of voices as backup definitely altar the atmosphere, but with the mercy of Sri Panca-tattva anything is possible...
