Guest guest
Dear prabhus, Hare Krsna. Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Sisya of HDG Srila Prabhupada is seeking one or three mature devotees [1 male + 1 couple, or 3 males] who is/are interested in traveling to Muktinatha, Nepal (Salagrams) and/or Badarinatha/Joshimatha (providing the road re-opens after the recent floods) in the very near future . Considering the heavy rains and recent landslides in the mountains, the proposed starting date would now be around beginning of October. Prospective candidates should be very aware that this is a TREK (not for the feeble - physically or mentally) and possess the following traits; 1. Standard or better 'Prabhupada' sadhana (early rising, 16 rounds min., etc.) 2. Mature 3. Flexible (physically & intellectually) 4. Good sense of humor (necessary for daily Indian 'grind') 5. Practical [can go/do whatever needs going/doing]. 6. Easy to get along with [this means my way or the highway]. 7. Have previous 'India' experience (able to deal practically with the beggars, riksha-wallers, taxis, heat, crowds, starers, missed trains, etc. 8. Excellent health /strong stamina One should already have ingested the Indian bacteria and be able to deal with 'Delhi-belly', etc., if it occurs. NB: we will be reaching elevations of more than 10,000 feet, so altitude sickness is a distinct probability. This sickness can even kill weaker persons, so please consider your health well. Please, no diabetics, heart patients or "Death-Wishers"; [OK, we will consider the last one if you are sincere]. 9. Adventurous spirit & love of the dhamas, tirthas & ksetras 10. Financially solvent We would also prefer that the accompanying devotees NOT be fanatics, foolish, unstable, envious, uncharitable, mean-spirited or unable to deal with changes, dangers or strangers. Interested parties, please respond ASAP. We could meet in Delhi or Brndaban and proceed from there. Salagram sila ki jaya! TRANSLATION "After my departure, I passed through many flourishing metropolises, towns, villages, animal farms, mines, agricultural lands, valleys, flower gardens, nursery gardens and natural forests. I passed through hills and mountains full of reservoirs of various minerals like gold, silver and copper, and through tracts of land with reservoirs of water filled with beautiful lotus flowers, fit for the denizens of heaven, decorated with bewildered bees and singing birds. I then passed alone through many forests of rushes, bamboo, reeds, sharp grass, weeds and caves, which were very difficult to go through alone. I visited deep, dark and dangerously fearful forests, which were the play yards of snakes, owls and jackals. Thus traveling, I felt tired, both bodily and mentally, and I was both thirsty and hungry. So I took a bath in a river lake and also drank water. By contacting water, I got relief from my exhaustion". S.B.1.6.11-14 "This peak of gold is somewhere in the Himalaya Mountains, and modern adventurers may try to find it there."
