Guest guest
Dear All Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. We are constantly being asked by TV companies to feature in their commissioning projects. Below is yet another example. If there is any family that would like to take this opportunity to preach to more than 5 million viewers, please contact me asap. I have an undertaking from the series producer that the ISKCON family would not have to sacrifice any of their values, principles and practices. Please see the section "Why Hare Krishna Family?" and "What kind of Hare Krishna Family" they are looking for. See also their commitment to us. Please let me know if you know of other families who are not on any of the e-mail conferences and who may be interested. We are merely exploring. Thank you kindly. Your servant. Hari-dhama dasa. Dear Hari-dhama It was great to meet you this morning. I learned so much about the Hari Krishna faith, and I really enjoyed our conversation. Thanks for being so generous with your time. As promised, I'm emailing over some information about Wife Swap as a format - and about the kind of attributes that I think a family should have. WIFE SWAP As you know, we're now looking for people to take part in the fourth series of Wife Sawp. It's one of Channel 4's most popular series, regularly watched by more than 5 million viewers and attracts huge media interest. The next series will be a run of six or seven programmes some of which will go out in the run up to Christmas of this year, while others will go out after Christmas. At present we are looking for families to take part in the fourth series. THE FORMAT Wife Swap is a series of formatted programmes, which look at contrasting family values. Very simply, each programme takes two families who live very different lives. For ten days, we take the wives of both families and swap them so that each of them goes to live in the other's house. For the first four days, both wives live according to the rules of their new house. Then on Day Five, they are allowed to change those rules and they institute rules that reflect their own beliefs and values - and which they think will benefit life in that house. For the remaining four days, their new families live according to these rules to see how their lives might change - and what they can learn. Finally, we re-unite the couples and sit them all down at a table meeting so that they can discuss what they have learned about each other - about themselves and their own families. THIS SERIES As the series producer of this new run of Wife Swap, I'm looking for lead families who can transform other people's lives. I need to find people who have the commitment, passion and enthusiasm - and could bring something very different to another family's lives. WHY HARE KRISHNA FAMILY? I believe that a Hari Krishna family could bring an extraordinary dimension to some of the Wife Swap programmes. We'd see a faith that many of us know little about on a daily basis, as it's lived in the home and practiced by ordinary people. And because Wife Swap takes place over a ten day period, the family has a period of time in which they can make their points and illustrate their views. It's not at all like doing an interview where you have one chance to make your point. Every Wife Swap belongs uniquely to the families who take part - they create their own programme, because we shoot what happens observationally over the course of the ten days. We follow what they do, how they create a life together, what compromises they make, what relationships they form. What we want the families to do is to engage with each other - to explore each other's views and values - but to do this practically in each other's homes. I hope that a Hare Krishna family can bring unique values to the lives of contemporary families, such as faith, discipline, the search for something greater than materialism, a concern for what you eat - and a real sense of being part of a community. It would be very important, I believe to feature a family who takes part in taking food to the homeless. I'm very keen on this sense of direct action - seeing people engaged in act that is the antithesis of their current lives and values. WHAT KIND OF HARE KRISHNA FAMILY I would like a Hari Krishna family to be : - Initiated disciples who adhere fairly strictly to the Hari Krishna rules - living in the UK - part of a two parent family with children living at home (it doesn't matter if the children are actively engaged in the Hari Krishna faith) As far as characters are concerned, they should be : - prepared to stand up for their beliefs - articulate - and have a sense of humour into the bargin! In addition, I would like them to - participate in the Food For Life network - attend temple on a Sunday I can assure you that the family will not be put in a house where there is another dominant faith - this would not be the point of the swap at all. I don't want to have huge religious debates - Wife Swap is about values and change, about compromises and transformation. I believe that the right family could be at the heart of a very different and challenging Wife Swap. As we discussed, I'm very keen to talk to the couple who run the Camden Food for Life, but would welcome the chance of seeing others as well. As I'm sure you're aware, everything depends upon getting the right people. Thanks once again for your time today, I hope it goes well at your meeting tomorrow. I look forward to hearing from you. with kind regards Helen Richards Series Producer: Wife Swap series 4 mobile number : 07798 600 190 direct office: 0207 013 4280 (Text PAMHO:8639865) ------ ------- End of Forwarded Message ------
