Yes, it is good to design as per vastu principles. It is a vedic science. My

point is that we could do more service with the same energy if we do not go

against the current of the material energy, then why not do it that way. For

instance lat us say that there are two different roads to reach the same

destination of which one is full of pot holes and the other is a good road.

Which would you choose? Choosing to build as per Vastu is like choosing the

good road so that the destination can be reached with minimum effort.

Now that you have become aware of the Vastu defects in your design, I feel

it is Krishna revealing you to do it the right way. There is also a sastric

injunction which says that if lot of overendeavour is involved in changing

then one should compromise to the extent possible. There is advice to be

practical while applying the Vastu principles. This advise is especially for

correcting existing buildings where vastu experts advice major demolishing

involving huge costs.

You are talking of a new building and I think you should try to follow

everything.

>We took advice from an expert in Vastu sastra who recommended certain changes

Is it because it increases the budget? I think you should not go by the

budget so much for a new temple. Krishna will send. We really do not know

where all lakshmi is going to come from? This was my experience in

Bangalore.Following some of the vastu principles also attracts collection

during construction.

Personally I would be hesitant to break the principles of vastu if I had a

choice. This is my opinion.

No doubt chanting Hare Krishna makes everything auspicious. Just like we

accept so many things favourable for devotional service we have to accept

this also. Peaceful mind is a favourable state for performing devotional

service. If you have design that is not pro-peace of mind then occupant of

the building has to expend lot of energy to counteract it.

What is the major point that he has asked you to change? Maybe I can help you.

Madhu Pandit prabhu metioned that it is always advisable to build a temple

as per vastu and in his earlier text he also explained why it is so.

However, if a temple is not constructed as per vastu principles then what

are the implications? How can it affect the temple - does it really affect

our ISKCON temples over the world where there regular chanting, deity

worship, preaching, etc since many temples, especially in the west many not

be as per the vaste principles.

Who can say to what extent it affects? It is an effect. How much it affects

and how devotional service counter-acts it are all quite unmeasurable by

human beings. In any case we should go on doing: "regular chanting, deity

> worship, preaching, etc." That is our life and soul.

I hope this finds you blissful and healthy in Krishna consciousness.

Your ever well wisher,

Jayapataka Swami
