Guest guest
Come and give us your association at ISKCON Perth, Australia! Perth is a small city (population just over 1 million) situated on the west coast of Australia. Surrounded by ocean & the desert, some devotees say that it is one of the most isolated temples in the world. Adelaide, almost 3000kms away is the next-closest devotee community! However this isolated position has definite advantages, especially in this tumultuous period of ISKCON and world history. Perth is practically untouched by the politics & controversies that are happening elsewhere in the world, so, if you want to engage peacefully in Srila Prabhupada's & Sri Sri Gaura Nitai's service this may be the place for you.... ISKCON Perth is a small friendly temple community. Visitors often comment on the nice "family" ( as in Srila Prabhupada's family) mood. The potential for spreading Krishna Consciousness is great, as the majority of non-devotees are friendly & favourable towards us. However, as we are just a small, mostly householder community, we do need the assistance of some enthusiastic Vaisnavas & Vaisnavis. We have a few nice new boys & girls in our ashrams who need solid training, so potential bhakta or bhaktin leaders would be welcome. Book-distributers, cooks, pujaris, etc are also needed. We are attempting to begin Bhakti Vriksa gatherings here ,so if you have any experience in this service it would be especially helpful. A devotional & character reference would also be appreciated from your temple president, local GBC or any other senior devotee in good standing. The temple is situated close to Perth city, about 15 minutes by train. The presiding deities, Sri Sri Gaura Nitai have been worshipped here for over 15 years. However, devotees have been preaching here for over 25 years, so the locals are quite familiar with us! Visiting Maharajas include HH Jayapataka Swami, HH Prabhavisnu Swami , HH Ramai Swami, HH Subhag Swami, HH Devamrta Swami & HH Praladananda Swami. HG Bhurijan Prabhu resides here & three nights a week conducts an indepth study course on Srimad Bhagavatam. ...So, if you are feeling adventurous come & join us! As we are just a small community with a very tight budget we cannot afford to pay anyone's airfare. This, you would have to arrange & pay for yourself. Similarly, we cannot arrange visas until after a trial period of service in the temple. Unfortunately we've had to implement this policy as some people who have previously been sponsored by Australian temples have misused this facility. If you would like to come, it would be necessary for you to arrange initially for a tourist visa, & to have sufficient laksmi for a return airfare. Concerning visas, it is probably best check with your local Australian consulate for details, as requirements vary from country to country. If the devotee can demonstrate that he or she is willing to work as a steady member of the temple community there may be the opportunity to gain a religious worker's visa, which enables one to stay in Australia and can lead to residency. Perth also has a nice householder community so families & independent single people are welcome as well. If you are financially independent and/ or qualify for a work visa, why don't you consider coming too? Again, check with your local Australian consulate for more details. There are certain professions (registered nurses, physiotherapists, radiographers, certified accountants are some) who are needed in the country, so you may get priority if you want to come & settle here.
