Guest guest
Moscow, RUSSIA Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Is there any definite instructins regarding what Gaudiya vaisnavas are supposed to do during a solar eclipse (besides chanting Hare Krsna). I heard of some rules like that devotees are not supposed to eat anything a few hours before and during the eclipse, they should change their cloth and sacred threads after it, they should not watch the eclipse or even be out in the street during the event, that food prepared before the eclipse is considered impure and should be thrown out after it, that the deities should be closed during the eclipse and the whole temple washed afterwards. I saw some the rules in practice in Vrndavan Krsna Balarama mandir in 1998. All this makes me wonder, though, what exactly Srila Prabhupada's instructions were in this regard and how to tell superstitious rules from the authentic ones. Is there any certainty in this regard, based on authoritative sastras and Srila Prabhupada's opinion? I have failed to find any definite instructions both in Vedabase and in Pancaratra Pradipa. Hoping to get some enlightment for (and before) the eclipse on August 11 and begging to remain your servant, Madana-mohana das
