Regarding India's programmers. That's well known fact. If a person reads regularly computer-related magazines, he knows about this. I'm not sure about their qualification, whether they are really top guys in programming, but two years ago Bill Gates visited India with the purpose of investigating man resourses. It is doubtful that any real programmer will work for Microsoft, but anyway. > Sincerely, > bhakta Bill Duke Haribol, Jayagovardhana d
Guest guest
Dear Sergei Prabhu (and Jayagovardhana d), Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Thank you for your (Sergei Prabhu) note with statisics on Indian bodied workers in the computer industry etc. If I can with all humility, please allow me to make a statement or two. First let me say that I do not have any reason to doubt the authenticity of your figures. But what I want to do is point out the little bit that I know regarding how things (such as statistics) are accepted as authoritative. Srila Prabhupada in his writings gives us many examples of what constitutes authority (in making statements etc.). For us followers of Srila Prabhupada the Acaryas and the Vedic scriptures are our authority. So when Srila Prabhupada makes a statement he supports the statement by giving references from the previous saints, acaryas and particular Vedic verses. So I hope I am simply instructing how statements are supported. So my question is "where do the figures you have listed come from?" Practically speaking this same system is used in science. I did not complete a masters of science but I did study a couple years for that graduate degree. And it actually was helpful in showing me how science works -- even though it was all very mundane and mechanistic in its approach. So I learned how scientific journals are a significant part of science's body of authority. Journals such as "Science", "The Journal of the American Medical Association [? or Academy?]", "Nature", etc. are accepted as authorities because over the years they have been accepted as publishing accurate information. So I hope I am helping. If not, please forgive me. Your servant, bhakta Bill Duke Nashville, TN USA PS -- I'm cc-ing this to Jayagovardhana das. He sent a letter saying one familar with computer magazines becomes aware of this. So this idea of things [knowledge etc.] becoming so well known that no support is necessary may be a point. And he also mentioned magazines of that field as a (un-named) reference. No problem.
