Please accept my humble obeisances,

In the GBC meeting this year, 1998, the following resolution was accepted:

"[Law] 305 THAT the proposal of the Child Protection Task Force outlining a

justice system, central office, and various guidelines for GBC Members,

Regional Secretaries and Temple Presidents to assure enforcement and

implementation, is approved in total and is the approved standard everyone

should follow."

The following is a brief summary of the resolution made by Badrinarayan

prabhu.

"There are three aspects of the new child protection system:

a) an investigative and tribunal system to resolve allegations of abuse from

the past

b) a system for preventative education and its means of implementation.

Included within this are provisions for counselling and care for abuse

victims.

c) an investigative and tribunal system to resolve allegations of abuse the

future.

Key to the implementation of the above was the establishment and funding of

a central office. This office will co-ordinate the above as well as the

establishment and training of local child protection teams, preparation and

distribution of educational material, central record keeping for an

ISKCON-wide staff screening system etc. This office will also co-ordinate

counselling for victims and a host of other services." (end of quote)

The GBC Child Protection Task Force members that worked hard forming this

document were:

Akhandadhi dasa, Anuttama dasa, Badrinarayan dasa (chair) Dharmaraj dasa,

Laxmimoni devi dasi, Manu dasa, Pancaratna dasa, Sesa dasa, and Yasoda devi

dasi

The +50 pages document that the GBC accepted in the #305 resolution from

1998 is now available to anyone that wants to study it.

You will find this document in two places;

1) in the file area of "The GBC Executive" conference in COM. The filename

is "CPRES98.zip" The file format is Word 2.

To get the file: In WinCOM go to "Commands" --> "Download" --> "4. File from

a Conference" --> Choose the name of the conference, i.e. The GBC

Executive... --> Type in the filename CPRES98.zip --> Press OK. Log on to

COM.

The size of the file is 38k (not big)

2) at the newly created FTP site on Internet for official GBC documents,

minutes and news releases etc. The address is ftp.bbt.se

Type ftp.bbt.se in your Internet Browser address bar and hit Enter. That

will get you there. Go the sub directory called "GBC". Then go to the sub

directory called "Child Protection". There you'll find the file CPRES98.zip

In case you don't have the latest version of WinCOM, you will find that in

the "COM" sub directory at ftp.bbt.se. Or, if you need an updated vaisnava

calendar for your local temple or town, check the CALENDAR sub directory.

The GBC file area is somewhat "thin" at the moment, our intention is to

provide you with all "official" ISKCON documents there, as well as in the

file area of the GBC Executive conference in COM.

If you have any questions or problems to get the file please let us know. I

will not send the file out to everybody individually, but I can help you to

retrieve it.

Your servant, Premarnava das
