Dear Vaisnavas,

 

Please accept my humble obeisances.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

 

 

I would like to make an appeal to all of you that we find ways to help those

devotees who are in extremely painful life situations.

 

The recent sad news of the suicide of an ex-gurukuli from New Vrindaban

touched me very deeply. Can we do something to help? It is heartbreaking and

devastating that in our spiritual society young persons, our children, commit

suicide at such a high rate. I have been told 7 or 8 out of 100 gurukula

children have committed suicide. If that is true it is very shocking.

 

Are there possibilities for helping persons in crisis? On the internet I have

seen webpages which anyone can visit anonymously, write about one's problems,

and find interested persons that are willing to listen, understand and give

help and advice. I am now planning to establish such a help forum on the

internet.

 

To create an efficient message board, I think it is important to have devotees

participate who have adequate education in psychology or psychotherapy, or

maybe other related fields. If you are educated in such a field and would like

to volunteer to answer posts every now and then, please contact me.

 

And if you don't have professional competence, but the desire to help, you may

also contact me so we can discuss your input.

 

At this stage, I am not sure whether the forum will be moderated or

unmoderated. We can probably begin unmoderated, and if it turns out that there

are too many counter-productive postings, we can switch to a moderated

version.

 

Also, if any of the readers of this post have specific ideas or suggestions to

make such an aid forum work, please contact me.
