Many thanks to all of you who have given me information (or advised where to

find it) about the Ratha-yatra festivals in different countries. Whatever I

received from you, now I am offering it back to you in the form of an

article (please see the attached file), so that you can use it in your own

preaching activities. I gave this article to the Jagannatha Research

Institute here in Puri, and they were very happy with it. They will publish

it in any case, but they are eager to include it in the official publication

of Jagannatha's temple, which is great because then it will be read by many

people whom it would be difficult for us to reach otherwise and who don't

know what Srila Prabhupada has done for Lord Jagannatha.

 

As far as making a book on this topic (with photos etc.), it is indeed a big

project and I don't have the time, nor the capacity, to do it (perhaps in

future I shall obtain both:)). I like the idea, but I think that such a book

should be written by a native English speaker, whereas I am a native Russian

speaker and my English is very simple and imperfect. Still, I hope that the

information presented in this article will be of some use to you. Some

passages in it might seem unusual or unnecessary, but that's because it is

primarily "Orissa-oriented." However, if you come across some things which

are actually wrong, please let me know because it may still be not too late

to correct them. And please continue to send me info about Lord Jagannatha's

temples and Ratha-yatra festivals all over the world, because I shall

certainly use it in the future or even in this publication. By the way, the

secretary of that institute asked me whether there're Ratha-yatras in any

Muslim countries. I explained that it is highly unlikely, but actually I

don't know for sure. Also, till now I don't know anything about Ratha-yatras

in South America. So, again, thank you for your help, and please continue to

send me such information (more details is OK, like when and how certain

temples have been opened, Jagannatha Deities installed and Ratha-yatras

performed). I shall put it all into one file, which might gradually and

naturally grow into a nice book. Hare Krsna.
