Age-old tradition and wisdom teaches that Cow urine cures many ailments.

 

The bull and the cow are the symbols of the most offenseless living beings

because even the stool and urine of these animals are utilized to benefit

human society.

The urine of a cow is salty, and according to Äyur-vedic medicine the cow’s

urine is very effective in treating patients suffering from liver trouble.

Païca-gavya, the five products received from the cow, namely milk, yogurt,

ghee, cow dung and cow urine, are required in all ritualistic ceremonies

performed according to the Vedic directions. Cow urine and cow dung are

uncontaminated, and since even the urine and dung of a cow are important,

we can just imagine how important this animal is for human civilization.

TRANSLATION

The child was thoroughly washed with cow urine and then smeared with the

dust raised by the movements of the cows. Then different names of the Lord

were applied with cow dung on twelve different parts of His body, beginning

with the forehead, as done in applying tilaka. In this way, the child was

given protection.
