GBC meeting 2002 in Mayapur

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

 

I would like to share some information about the meetings in Mayapur of the

GBC Members. I will give just a summary about the main activities. Also

I am sending more pictures to be posted on the official website of Mayapur.

Here's an overview of what has happened so far.

 

Since February 27th, seventeen deputy-GBC members have been going through

forty proposals and prepared them for discussion and decisions by the GBC

body.

 

On March 1st, the meeting started in the morning with Ramai Swami's keynote

address. That day and the next the GBC discussed ISKCON Guru-Tattva issues.

On the afternoon of March 2 the deputies presented their first batch of

proposals. On the evening of March 2 at 7:00 pm there was an elephant

procession with Sri Sri Radha Madhava, one of the main attractions in Sri

Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir.

 

On March 3rd, Srila Bhaktisidhanta Saraswati Thakura's Appearance day, the

devotees enjoyed a class by H.H. Lokanath Swami. The GBC dealt with

membership issues in a short morning session. After greeting a swan-rath

carrying a large murti of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakhur being

pulled down Bhaktisiddhanta Road by an association of ISKCON and Gaudiya

Math members, the GBC resumed their meeting in Srila Prabhupada's Samadhi

auditorium. Individual members each gave brief reports of their year's

preaching. Transcripts will be posted here and on Chakra shortly.

 

March 4th, Morning: Reports from the GBC on their preaching areas continued.

Medical professionals Bhaktavatsala Prabhu from San Jose Sangita Devi Dasi

from Philadelphia made a presentation on devotee hospice care, which

included an excerpt from Sangita's new book, The Final Journey.

 

Then, Anuttama Prabhu, in a communications and assessment exercise,

requested the GBC members to improve their individual relationships by

praising and appreciating the efforts and each others' service to Srila

Prabhupada, one to one. This was really moving. I will explain the details

later when I transcribe my interview with Anuttama prabhu.

 

Yesterday at 11:00 am HH Tamal Krishna Goswami arrived for the GBC meeting,

He has not attended since 1995. His health is much better now thanks to Lord

Krsna.

 

Devotees here are very happy to have the opportunity to hear insights and

lectures from a very senior devotees who had personal asociation with HDG

Srila Prabhupada.
