Sri Sarasvata Gaudiya Vaishnava Association.( SGVA)

The 7th annual meeting and reunion of the Sri Sarasvata Gaudiya Vaishnava

Association (an association of disciplic descendants of His Divine Grace

Prabhupada Srila Bhakti-siddhanta Saraswati Goswami Thakur) was held in the

Auditorium of the Samadhi Mandir of His Divine Grace Srila A.C.

Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in Sri Mayapur on the 21st March, 2002.

The SGVA was created to fulfill the desires of His Divine Grace Prabhupada

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, so that all his disciples and

followers would cooperatively work together to spread the message of Sri

Caitanya Mahaprabhu to the entire world. His Divine Grace Bhaktivedanta

Swami Prabhupada established the Bhaktivedanta Swami Charity trust (BSCT)

with one of its objectives being to promote unity in the Saraswat (disciplic

family). The BSCT took the initiative for convening a meeting of all

disciplic descendants of His Divine Grace Prabhupada Srila Bhaktisiddhanta

Sarasvati Thakur. They decided to form a

formal association under the name of Sarasvata Gaudiya Vaishnava Association

(SGVA),

with the purpose of fulfilling the well known desire of Prabhupada Srila

Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur - that his followers cooperatively preach

the

message of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, while developing Vaishnava communities

in

the Holy Dham.

Most of the direct disciples of Prabhupada Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati

Thakur appreciate this working together approach, which began through the

initiatives of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Their Divine Graces

Srila

Bhakti Promode Puri Maharaja and Srila Madhava Maharaja (who were members of

the BSCT) support the attempt to bring together this great family, which was

started by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada more than 30

years ago, and has been formally together now for seven years.

The meeting was blessed by two disciples of Prabhupada Srila Bhaktisiddhanta

Sarasvati Thakura, namely Their Divine Graces: Srila Nayananda das Babaji

and Srila Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Maharaja who both spoke on the need for

humility and dedication to the desires of our previous acaryas in order to

work together cooperatively. They gave their blessings to the spiritual

nephews and all the devotees present. His Holiness Jayapataka Swami

convened the meeting and gave the annual report for the previous year. His

Divine Grace Bhakti Ballabha Tirtha Maharaj gave the Vote of Thanks address

concluding the meeting.

The heads and representatives of various member institutions attended. It

is the association of the disciplic descendents of HDG Prabhupada Srila

Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura. This association will be registered as a

society under the West Bengal Society Registration Act 1961. Work on this

registration is going on, hopefully it will be registered very soon. The

members of this association are the different institutions and maths in the

line of Sri Brahma Madhava Gaudiya Sarasvata Sampradaya. All the members of

SGVA meet annually (once in a year).

The SGVA has also a website (www.mayapur.info/SGVA) that was displayed by

H.H Jayapataka Swami from his laptop to all the members of the meeting.

This website will be updated regularly and all the member-institutions can

send the information to update.

The meeting was started at 9:30 a.m. and ended at 1:30 p.m. After the

meeting there was a feast lunch prasadam to all the members at the Puspa

Samadhi of HDG Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in ISKCON. Some

gifts like umbrellas, calendars and prasadam packs were distributed by to

all the members. The whole meeting was sponsored by Bhaktivedanta Swami

Charity trust which was founded by His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami

Prabhupada. H.H Jayapataka Swami is the chairman of this trust.
