Govindas restaurant offered to qualified devotees

We are a small ISKCON community in Gothenburg in West Sweden. We are

looking for one (or two) couples who would like to run and manage a

small-medium size restaurant in the center of town. We have had a

"Govindas" restaurant here from 1993 to 1999, and it was very, very

appreciated by the local people. We get almost daily requests to open up a

new restaurant. We had to close down since the rent was going to double.

 

Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden on the west coast. It has a

mild climate, beautiful nature and it has a population of 700 000 people.

Social facilities and health care are free and first class. In Sweden there

are now estimated 500 000 vegetarians out of a population of 8 000 000, so

there are good prospects in general.

 

We are looking for serious devotees who want to settle for a long term

commitment and have preferably some experience of restaurant life.

Restaurant work is hard work, so enthusiasm and dedication are essential

prerequisits. Good knowledge of english is a must, as well as driving

licence and of course good cooking skills and experience. It is a good

plus if one in the couple has a European Community passport for visa

purposes. Loyalty to Srila Prabhupada and ISKCON and a good sadhana are

very much appreciated.

 

On our side we can offer to pay for the restaurant. We are not

economically dependent on a restaurant, so that the profit can be used for

wages and remuneration to grant a reasonable standard of living for the

devotees engaged there. We can also help with visas and a lot of the

practicalitites, like finding flats etc.

 

For the present we are planning to open a new preaching center downtown

with Gaura Nitai Deities. We have at present 2 full time preachers and

about 20 indipendent devotees living in the area. We have congregational

preaching to indian and swedish people, sunday feasts, harinams, school

programs and more. For the moment we don't have a temple with ashramas.

 

It is a great opportunity for 1-2 couples who want to start a new life,

settle down and get a steady income within the frame of devotional

service.
