Guest guest
Recently I received the following unsolicited nonsense [see texts 2141985 and 2152992 from COM]: > "The Group of the Russian military scientist of Centre of > computer science 'Gamma-7' has developed the unique device -- > passive broadband oscillator of thin physical fields, which > is used in quality neitralizator of abnormal radiations and > refers to as 'Gamma-7'." The devotee who forwarded this announcement then described an utterly useless and certainly ridiculous object for which he made bizarre and impossible claims of alleged health benefits and alleged protection from nuclear radiation. It doesn't matter if the thing is made of gold, silver, brass, silicon and germanium, as he claims, or if it is made of recycled food-grade steel cans with a tin lining, or carved from wood, or imagined in the mind. Such devices, whether fashioned in Archimedean spirals, Pythagorean triangles, asymptotic or logarithmic curves, or simply the puddled dross scooped off the top of a foundry crucible, are merely an illusory or cheating device whose theoretical "benefits" will never be realized. This is simply another way for charlatans to fleece the devotee community of hard-earned lakshmi. Do not send one kopek, zloty or rupee for this worthless thing. Clearly the scientists in the former Soviet Union are hurting, for loss of official state support for their researches, and some have now been reduced to creating nonsense devices for which the best thing that can be said is at least they do not damage the health of the person wearing them. The promotion of such money-stealing schemes on COM does, however, demonstrate an alarming credulity on the part of otherwise-intelligent devotees who ought to know better. Instead of quoting Vaisnava shastra, guru and sadhu, we are now quoting from the trivial and mercenary press-releases of venal and greedy commercial interests. In the absence of scientific peer review and verifiable double-blind testing, corrupt rascals and cheaters are permitted to make all sorts of unsubstantiated and unproven claims which are not merely dubious, but clearly and entirely false, though masked within the thin veneer or guise of typical scientific jargon. Such claims have no place in the society of devotees, nor among any group of educated people. They are intended solely to fleece the gullible and stupid. Any devotee who purchases one of these devices merely proves his own stupidity and unfitness for devotional service: "Persons devoid of atma-tattva do not inquire into the problems of life, being too attached to the fallible soldiers like the body, children and wife. Although sufficiently experienced, they still do not see their inevitable destruction. O descendant of King Bharata, one who desires to be free from all miseries must hear about, glorify and also remember the Personality of Godhead, who is the Supersoul, the controller and the saviour from all miseries." -- Srimad-Bhagavatam, 2.1.4-5 With sad heart, my all best wishes, Ananda das
