Most respected Guru Maharaj,

Please accept my most respectful obeisances at your lotus feet. All glories

to Srila Prabhupad and Your divine grace. Hare Krsna!!

Can you shower some light on the below question which i received from one of my

friends who is in Begium currently:

Hi,

Yesterday an incident happened to me. I thought I could share it with

u.Yesterday me, sanjay, ramya and eshwar went to ISKCON to practise songs and

we were waiting for Jaganath prabhu. At that time a negro man (from French

Guyana) came there. He said he learned about Krishna movement a little and was

interested in it. But he had some questions in his mind. So we started to

discuss it.

He said that he smokes marijuana and asked me whether it is correct or not.

I said that it is absolutely wrong and explained its clinical side effects. I

also said that Krishna condemned the use of drinks or smoking or any other

immoral things. He then asked me why marijuana is immoral 'coz he gets bliss

when he smokes it. I then explained that it was a temporary bliss and if there

is no drug available to him then he would suffer. But Krishna always went for a

permanent bliss. He looked happy with my explanation. He also said that he was

unhappy with the western institutions 'coz the people were not true and they do

not follow nature. I then explained about various other things and asked him to

meet mataji for joining ISKCON. He was pleased but he asked me one question

that I couldn't answer. He asked why the devotees are shaved. They shave their

beard and even their head. He asked me if our principle is to follow nature and

not any artificial ways to achieve God, then why do we stop the nature of

growing beards (he had a long beard). It was one thing which makes difference

between man and woman. So why stop the nature. This I was not able to answer.

Do u have an explanation for it?

Regards,

Gokul.

Thankyou very much Guru Maharaj for your kind guidance.

Wanting to be your humble servant,

Hema
