Srila Prabhupada recommended chanting mantras and songs written by our previous acaryas and great devotees. Of course one can also compose songs as long as they are in keeping with the Krishna consciousness philosophy. the danger of chanting names of the Lord simply put together is that you may create some new "mantra" which will divert people from the authorized mantras. I hope that this finds you in good health. Your ever well wisher, Jayapataka Swami
