Guest guest
Camp: ISKCON Atlanta's New Panihati Festival of India, Rathayatra & Feast. > A few days ago I heard from an iniciate devotee, that > Japa-mala from Tulasi was being done with wood from Tulasis > that wasn't left the body because of the big needs of japas, is this auful > story true? Who can say which tulasi bead was made from which kind of tree? However Srila Prabhupada told us in Mayapur that if it was needed for chanting Hare Krishna japa we could plant tulasi and even prior to their leaving the body use the wood for japa beads. She didn't take offense if it was for japa beads for Hare Krishna chanting. In any case prior to chanting on Tulasi beads there is a ceremony called "mala samskara" which is to offer the Tulasi beads to the Lotus feet of the Deity of Visnu Tattva. Then the first use of the beads is to offer to Lord Sri Krishna so there is also no offense by offering to the Lord's Lotus feet and then using His prasadam. I hope this finds you blissful and healthy in Krishna consciousness. Your ever well wisher, Jayapataka Swami
