Guest guest
Camp: ISKCON New Talavan Farm Community--Sudarshan Festival, Mississippi,USA > Krsna reciprocates according to our sincerity? Lord Sri Krishna is known as Bhava-grahi-janardana. He accepts our mood of approaching Him. If we approach Lord Sri Krishna in pure devotional service then He reciprocates in one way by giving us Himself and His eternal service. Therefore it is imperative that we understand what pure devotional service is. Nectar of Devotion is written to give us a clear idea of what pure devotional service is. Sometimes we meet people who sincerely want to merge into Lord Sri Krishna and end their material existence. They don't understand about devotional service. So Lord Sri Krishna reciprocates with their sincere desire and give them impersonal liberation unless a pure devotee corrects their misconceptions and gives them the Nectar of devotional service. However, say a devotee wants to reach Lord Sri Krishna as the final goal in their life, but instead of being sincere about it when the choice comes up between devotional service and sense gratification the devotee choses Maya. Then what does it mean that the devotee's goal is Krishna consciousness? The devotee isn't sincere to his purpose or goal. He is too weak or maybe he says he has that goal, but actually he has some other goals which he considers more important or urgent. Therefore part of surrender in devotional service is accepting whatever is favorable for our Krishna consciousness and rejecting whatever is unfavorable. Krishna consciousness is also called Buddhi-yoga or the yoga of intelligence since one needs to use one's intelligence to make sincere choices. The intelligence is sometimes described as the instructions we receive from sadhu, sastra and guru. If we have proper spiritual instructions and use them to guide our decisions and the sincerity of purpose to act on our decisions then we can make steady progress in Krishna consciousness. Sometimes our senses and mind are very strong and they compel us to do things we don't really want to do. Then we may need some special mercy or blessings from Guru(s), vaisnavas and Lord Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu to overcome these weaknesses and anarthas. Someone may be sincere about his intentions, but due to weakness isn't able to act on them. Chanting Hare Krishna and practicing devotional service according to regulative principles can increase our sukriti or spiritual credit and strength.
