In a previous verse it is stated, vina mahat-pada-rajo-'bhisekam: one cannot attain perfection without smearing the dust from the lotus feet of an exalted devotee on his head." Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 5 Chapter 12 Text 14 " Who has been elevated without rendering service to a pure Vaisnava?" It is the statement of Prahlada Maharaja that unless one is able to accept the dust from the lotus feet of a pure Vaisnava there is no possibility of his achieving the platform of devotional service. That is the secret. Adi Lila Chapter 8 Text 17 "The perfection of transcendental life can be achieved simply by touching the holy dust of the lotus feet of a holy man. In the Bhagavatam it is said, mahat-pada-rajo-'bhisekam, which means to be blessed by the holy dust of the lotus feet of a mahat, a great devotee. As stated in Bhagavad-gita, mahatmanas tu: those who are great souls are under the spell of spiritual energy, and their symptom is that they fully engage in Krsna consciousness for the service of the Lord. Therefore they are called mahat. Unless one is fortunate enough to have the dust of the lotus feet of a mahatma on one's head, there is no possibility of perfection in spiritual life." Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 3 Chapter 22 Text 6 "...the dust of the lotus feet of great personalities offers all good to the recipient, but the same dust can also do harm. Those who are offenders at the lotus feet of a great personality dry up; their godly qualities diminish. A great soul may forgive offenses, but Krsna does not excuse offenses to the dust of that great soul's feet, just as one can tolerate the scorching sunshine on one's head but cannot tolerate the scorching sunshine on one's feet. " Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 4 Chapter 4 Text 13 Therefore, it is clear that since a vaisnava is very dear to the Lord his devotees foot dust is purifying. I hope that this finds you in good health.
