Srila Prabhupada said there was no hard and fast rule in regard to

respecting maha-prasadam. Wherever and whenever it is available the most

important rule is to respect it and get it. Of course, under normal

circumstances other rules may be there like not eating off the plate of the

Spiritual Master, or cleaning the plate prior to eating, but these are

details.

As far as distribution of remnants normally a guru's remnants are

distributed to his disciples (diksa, siksa, aspiring), although sometimes

other devotees also want some of the mercy. Since whoever eats the remnants

of the guru gets blessings of the guru and also the guru relieves the

devotee of some of his/her karma. So giving remnant prasadam to outside

guests and persons who don't follow strictly Krishna consciousness

principles would unnecessarily burden the Spiritual Master with a load of

bad karmas. So usually this is avoided.

I don't know exactly what else you want to know about this topic. So I

leave it here for now, if there is more you want to know then tell me.

I hope that this finds you in good health.

Your ever well wisher,

Jayapataka Swami
