What is the importance of each? > > Your eternal servant > Bhakta Sunil Narang. There are many different samskaras primarily for the Householders. Vivaha (Wedding) Samskara-- sacred marriage samskara; Garbodhana Samskara-- for conceiving a Krishna conscious child; Pumsavan Samskara-- for having a male child and blessing the mother; Simantanayana Samskara--during advanced pregnancy to bless mother & child; Then there are other samskaras for save delivery of the child just prior to the childbirth, Samskara at the birth of the child, Samskara when leaving the house for the first time a month after the child is born, Samskara for the first grains, samskara for cutting the hair the first time, samskara for starting education, then first & second initiation samskaras including samskara for sacred thread, then sannyas samskara, then after death the final rites samskara. I hope that this gives you an idea about the kinds of samskara related with individuals. This doesn't include the samskaras related with buildings, etc. Like entering a house--Griha Pravesam, foundation stone laying, then there is Deity installation and its many related ceremonies. There is a book on samskaras available. Yours in service, Jayapataka Swami
