There is no hard and fast rule for Mahaprasadam since it is pure mercy.

Still generally certain etiquette is followed.

Usually one doesn't eat off the plate the guru has eaten from and transfers

the prasadam prior to distribution.

You can eat the remnants of devotees you see as more advanced than you or

who are very senior to you.

The Spiritual Master is to leave some remnants on his plate for disciples to

take. So the Guru's disciples should be offered first.

Usually if other devotees [than disciples] want they should come and ask. It

shouldn't be offered to them in a way which they feel obliged to take even

though they may not want it.

One doesn't offer the Spiritual Master's remnants to his Godbrothers or

those equal with his godbrothers.

Remnants shouldn't be offered to non-disciples (diksa or siksa) unless they

have expressed that they want to be offered.

One should be careful especially not given to people who are not practicing

devotional service. This is because by them taking prasadam remnants of the

devotee their karmas will go to the devotee. Unnecesarily it will overload

the guru with their karmas.

These are some things coming to mind. There may be more as well.

I hope that this finds you in good health.

Your ever well wisher,

Jayapataka Swami
