All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Thankyou for your letter cited below with my comments. I have noted the contents carefully. Your question was sent some time ago, but due to various reasons beyond my control I couldn't reply earlier. > Can you give me some tips to improve chanting. > I can understand that in the beginning we chant > offensively , without much concentration. Is perseverance > and the mercy of the holy name the only way or can we > do something more to improve. > > > your Servant, > > Sriram,Balaraman I give a Japa workshop for 2-3 days which gives a lot of guidelines. Sometime we can give you this training if you would like. Avoiding offenses is important. You can read the Krsna Nama Astaka by Rupa Goswami to help in getting rid of offenses to the Holy Name. Also read Srila Prabhupada's purport on chanting and hearing in Srimad Bhagavatam 7th Canto (5th Ch?) 23rd verse by Prahlada Maharaj on the nine processes of devotional service. Concentrating on the photo/Image of the Spiritual Master, Srila Prabhupada, Lord Sri Krishna, Lord Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu, or the Tulasi Plant can also be very helpful. There are many other things to help japa. These are a few tips. I hope that this finds you in good health.
