Srila Prabhupada didn't like devotees chanting with their bead-bags behind

their backs, but when His Divine Grace walked to my memory he swung his

arms. It doesn't seem possible not to put the beads sometimes below the

waste while chanting and walking, for instance. I never heard that. I don't

know what sastra this devotee is referring to. When someone says something

you can ask what sadhu, sastra or guru reference they have.

Srila Prabhupada personally told devotees that one should not put the beads

down on the asana or the floor since the feet touch there. One shouldn't

touch the beads where the feet are touching. One Maharaja told me that

Srila Prabhupada scolded him for putting his beads on the asana. When the

Maharaja countered that the asana wasn't the floor Srila Prabhupada said

that he put his feet on the asana so wasn't that contaminated?

I hope that this finds you in good health.

Your ever well wisher,

Jayapataka Swami
