My Dear John Darnielle, Please accept my best wishes. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Thankyou for your letter cited below with my comments. I have noted the contents carefully. > Hare Krsna! Please accept my humble obeisances. > All glories to Srila Prabhupada. > > I'm going to be getting some brass Gaura-Nitai > deities and would like instruction on how to > correctly begin caring for Them. Also, can someone > either direct my to what Srila Prabhupada has to > say about Gaura-Nitai, or simply post it? There is a conference called "Deity Worship" which specifically deals with how to care for Deities. You might join that conference and get some tips from the members there. Also you can purchase a Deity Worship Book called Pancaratra Prakasa in two parts. Although a lot of it is technical methods for twice initiated devotees a good quantity gives general principles which new devotees can also gain a lot of insight into the whole process of Deity Worship. Gaura Nitai, Srila Prabhupada said, are very merciful which is a great asset for new devotees who might not have a high standard of Deity worship. > I would > have gotten some deities that I know something > about (Radha-Krsna, for example) but I feel > an attraction for Gaura-Nitai despite my > great ignorance, and I take this attraction to > be "inspired" in the old sense of the word. You are fortunate to have be "inspired" to serve Sri Sri Gaura Nitai in Their Deity form. > Any responses, public or private, will be greatly > appreciated. > > Hare Krsna, > > JD I hope this helps. I hope that this finds you in good health. Your well wisher, Jayapataka Swami
