Since ovulation occurs around day 14, since the ovum lives only about a day,

and since sperm can live for 3 days inside the woman, it seems like sex on

the 12th, the 14th and the 15th day would be permitted and most likely to

result in conception. Of course, that assumes a 28 day cycle, which not all

women have. For those who have a different length, you can either count the

days and make an educated guess that your ovulation occurs approximately 14

days before menses. Or you can take your temperature and chart it (there are

many websites that explain exactly how to do this) to get a more exact

estimate.

 

Then one can follow both Manu and science.

You mean "modern western" science I presume. Manu samhita is also science.
