Is the purpose of this conference and discussion to understand what, in principle, are the proper functions of the GBC. That is my understanding -- that we are trying to determine what exactly should be the role of the GBC body. Once we understand and agree on this, and I don't yet see that agreement, we can then look at what the GBC are currently doing and decide what is right and wrong. We can perhaps also decide what kind of membership the GBC requires -- i.e. what qualifications are required. Cases such as the above may well highlight some of the present problems we face, but do they help us to ascertain exactly what the GBC should be doing? I think there needs to be some prior work done, even in agreeing upon what exactly is the 'vision and legacy of Srila Prabhupada', etc. BTW, this is not said to condone or condemn the above act mentioned by Vaiyasaki prabhu, about which I know nothing at all. ys KDd

Earlier, he spent all his time with his disciples, as in the early days in New York, San Francisco, and LA. Also, I have some personal experience that a lot of that "protection" of Srila Prabhupada most likely was initiated by his secretaries, TPs, but not necessarily by him.
