Sounds good to me. Prabhupada apparently wanted ISCKON to be also the example of the practical varnasrama dharma system in this world, where to show by the example how to do properly also those other activities prescribed for the human kind, besides the pure and exclusive transcendental service to Krsna (that only a few may be capable of in this world anyway). Those quotes of Prabhupada that have been presented here may be applicable in particular instances, but not in all. How to have this movement to grow beyond the strict boundaries of an Hare Krsna temple and the activities exclusively designed for its dwellers and preachers? How to have the people of the world look on it as something they may also start identifying with in at least some areas of a common concern that is of a good, pious nature? Concerning "ffl" itself. In my understanding, it basically goes for the money and the resources that do not strictly belong to an ISKCON temple nor it comes from the book distribution/production. But for the money that people particularly want to donate for a such a particular purpose. They wouldn't give it to you otherwise anyway. To me, it only looks intelligent for ISKCON be there, offering such an alternative to those donors: "Krsna's prasadam instead of a Red Cross' chicken". Besides, apparently it is going for the devotees (such as Priyavrata) that have already made up their mind about what they consider to be their life's occupation, so you need not even to bother preaching to somebody to take up such a disgraceful service that is considered in ISKCON to be of a low profile, not a spiritual but a mundane activity. But as Hari Sauri pointed it correctly in the case of Gorge's welfare concert, it went on not under the banner of ISKCON. And rightly so. For then ISKCON would be receiving the undeserved credit for it in the eyes of the world. Thus, yes, perhaps "ffl" should not be conducted under the banner of ISKCON either. Luckily for ISKCON, no big influential celebrity (such as Madonna, say) gets inspired by Krsna to perform a big welfare concert under the banner of ISKCON... one would got to already have enough strength to survive such enormous good promotions in this world. - mnd
