Guest guest
Braja, I am so disheartened by what you say here. How could you possibly think I have not considered 'simply another perspective?' If not, why would I have stayed on for 30 years as a devotee even after my horrendous horrors. Why are you telling me this? I am even more disturbed that you talk as if I don't know what other guru-kulis experiences were. I know about between 600 and 800 kulis personally and became their voice having started the guru-kula newsletters and reunions. I have known most of them for their entire lives and having been to most every guru-kula in the world from the 70's, 80's and 90's over the 10 years and as many schools while I was guru-kula. How many gurukulis do you know? Why do you think I speak as an isolated victim rather then the voice of the majority? Why do you feel I need your opinion to know how my friends feel and think? If you actually knew how the majority of them felt and experienced, you would be working with us to stop this abuse there in India. Instead, you are wasting time on these non topics. With all due respect, it's not so surprising. It is obviously something that you feel everyone is conscious of, aware of, because it happened to you. Our own experiences are often foremost in our minds, and with something of this nature it is natural to expect that everyone be aware of it and know about it. But it's not the case - especially because it was not the experience of everyone at that school. That is to be remembered at all times. It happened to some, and not to all. That life for you became "full of pain, starvation, beatings, work, no clothing, bedding etc." is not the case for many at the same school, at the same time. It doesn't make what happened to you any less acceptable, it's simply another perspective that needs to be maintained.
