Victory over evil--preaching at its best

What am I doing about child abuse you ask?

I started the awareness campaign in IsKCON that has lead to much of the

child reform efforts we see among the devotees throughout the world. It

means chosing your battles, ones you can win, staying focused until you

have, keeping it simple, even small and in the realm of your 'area of

influence' as they call it.

With each victory, no mater how small, others begin to chime in and so

leads to bigger efforts, a stonger voice and a clarity of purpose. It is

preaching against kali at its best and it takes the same inspiration,

understanding, sacrifice and humility as any preaching program taken to

completion and success. You can not be intimidated by how daunting the

task, but take renewed inspiration from each small victory. This is the

story of the Hare Krsna movement and the story for me on this front of

child care reform.

The boarding school has all the makings for a successful campaing if we

remain focused, steady and level headed. We do it, not for the kids, but

for our own purification as an individual standing for justice in the

one arena that still remains clear in its evil and goes to the very

heart of everything bad with the world. The smallest victory here is a

powerful victory against those forces and in the lives of those children

freed of that slavery of abuse. It is not what we can do for stopping

child abuse in the world, it is what it does for us by standing up

against it and what happens to us if we fail to take that stand.

I'll ask you again. Every second a child is being abused on the

planet. What are you doing about it?
