Guest guest
I am sad to hear your decision of closing TD. Did that has anything to do with the new plan to merge your service with w.krishna and w.bbt as announced by Raktambar and for which I rose some concern recently? Or is it simply because some devotees are complaining about it? TD was created to answer some crucial needs amongst the devotees. Madhu has done a good job in moderating that forum. If sometimes things went out of hand it is not a reason to be so drastic by closing it and therefore proving that vaisnavas are not able to live with diversity and mistakes. There is nothing more dangerous for a society than censuring their subjects. It is very symptomatic of religious radicals. TD was the only forum that I know were "philosophy" could be practiced in its full significance. There I learned so much about critical thinking, a process extremely important in science or philosophy -in fact in the every day life. Madhu has managed to keep a level of respect with the members up to an impressive state compared with what is going on in iskcon or generally in the vaisnava world. If Ekanatha abused its liberal rules, it is not Madhu's fault really. That is too easy and not serious to see it this way. It was the duty of the members to rectify him, which I think it was done in du course of time and with humility from Ekanath's part; he changed his name. I found this incident unfortunate in a sense that devotees showed a lack of maturity and responded with so much animosity. Ekanath was a devotee -with his wonderful wife- who gave so many years of his life to KC. Suddenly, and maybe because of so many crazy things that happened in iskcon, he found himself in a situation of despair; he became cynical. Ekanath could have left the devotees with an impression of gentleness and compassion from their part but instead of that he would keep bad memories and rancor. In different occasions, I had to deal with these kinds of devotees who left the movement and began to criticize it heavily. In every occasion I have open my arm to them and tolerated their criticism. In almost every case, the same devotees after some friendly association, have changed to a certain extend their mind and became more respectful and open-minded. Can you imagine what harm these devotees after leaving Iskcon can do to our movement in these conditions? I am definitely opposed to the kind of doctrines which says that a devotee should consider his son, wife, mother, brother and friends as enemies as soon as they don't appreciate your deity. Krsna!
