Personally I agree, and I guess I'm guilty here of doing what I'm asking for caution against - being general. I also "knew" my guru. Very simple. No one had to explain to me at all. So ok, that was there, but then, how did I know that this "aaah" feeling that I experienced was genuine? That it was based on spiritual as opposed to material emotion or sentiment? My own experience was very very lucid: I recall very strongly my mind being completely empty of every single thing - purely empty - but for one thought: "I've found him" - and that thought startled me it was so incredibly clear. I hasten to share that with anyone because it can reek of sahajyaism But the fact remains: many, many thousands of people - Sai Baba followers for example - will tell you of same or similar experiences, yet look at whom they are following. So I asked Rama Keshava prabhu, please clarify what you mean by this 'heartfelt sentiment'. > So I don't think this is a sentimental perspective at all. It's the > most Krishna conscious perspective, in my considered (you thought I was > going to say humble, didn't you?) opinion. No, this is definitely not a sentimental perspective. But there is also some clarification of sentiment required, which I believe I did specify in an earlier text. The general term 'sentiment' is categorised in two ways in regard to this discussion: material sentiment and spiritual sentiment. My question was: how does one make the judicious separation of the two, most especially at that particularly early stage of *choosing* one's guru. Do you understand what I mean? Where does that discrimination enter? Spiritual intelligence, or causeless mercy? Ys Braja Sevaki dd > > Babhru das
