Guest guest
Dear Mahanidhi Prabhu, PAMHO. AGTSP. >Re: Diksa or Siksa Sampradaya. > > The disagreement is in the usage of the term 'siksa parampara' as it can > > mean there is no diksa at all, and there is only siksa involved in our > > parampara. > > That's such a highly hypothetically produced "problem" that > I can hardly imagine to be worthy of considering. That you realised this after two days, and umpteen postings on this subject If this realisation was with you in the very beginning, there would not be so many mails flying around. If you thought this point was not worth considering, you would have simply neglected my point, and continued with what ever other context you were discussing. I think last month on 'GD' you or somebody was talking about Paramatma. Paramatma only knows what went in your body mind and soul over the last two days, on this point which is not worthy of consideration. You were quoting Bhabhru Prabhu's text, that there were many papers out there 'talking' about 'siksa sampradaya' or 'siksa parampara'. If it was not worthy of any consideration why so mamy devotees have presented so many papers on this topic. Madhusudani Radha Mataji also said there was some paper on this subject, in some 'Vaisnava' academy/journal. Why so many papers on this subject? This is because it is very important point worthy of all consideration. Those devotees who have coined this 'siksa sampradaya' feel that there has been over stress, on diksa and siksa has not been given importance at all, over the years. That is diksa guru, is recognised and siksa guru is not recognised in the society. So they may present many papers, books etc,. on the subject of 'siksa' and 'siksa guru'. But by using the term 'siksa sampradaya', they will be neglecting the importance of 'diksa' and 'diksa guru' over the coming years. Before the society wakes up late to this point, I have just raised an objection. So far I have not seen any one raising this objection even though this term 'siksa sampradaya' has been freely and lavishly used, in various conferences, papers etc,. I want this point to be discussed at all levels, and a deeper understanding, on the implicstions of this terminology, in the coming years. I have put forward some points, regarding why the objection is. I can add some more. I repeat : 1. Our founder acarya has not used this term 'siksa parampara' or 'siksa sampradaya' and also 'diksa sampradaya' or 'diksa parampara'. 2. 'Parampara' or 'guru parampara' itself is sufficient and no adjective is required as these words include both siksa and diksa. 3. If the proponents of the word 'siksa sampradaya' think ours is not diksa sampradaya, I can prove *it is* 'diksa sampradaya' just on the basis of the meaning of the word diksa in sanskrit and Guru, Sadhu and Sastra. That is not our motive. To keep things balanced we must not use the term'siksa sampradaya' or 'diksa sampradaya' as both would be biased, and why this terminology is required, when we can simply call it parampara or guru parampara. > Obviously, whoever got this term "siksa sampradaya" in > use, definitely has not the slightest intention to > imply "there is no diksa at all". That is exactly the problem, I am talking about. They may have the understanding. The others may not have the same understanding. They don't have the slightest imagination, that a lay man, or any simple devotee, or some time in future, people start thinking, that our parampara is 'siksa parampara', and just by siksa this parampara can go on. So diksa is not required. The danger is we may give over importance to siksa and neglect diksa. >No need to worry so > much about the last possible thing that is not going to > happen. It is a lot to worry, as we are not talking about some scholars like you, but the rank and file of our society, not only today but also in the future, when the second generation and third generation devotees are not going to be on this planet any more. The term 'siksa sampradaya' or 'diksa sampradaya' is misleading to any ordinary member of this society, today or in future. > - mnd. Note : I am copying this to 'GD' as the same discussion is going on there. Just FYI. Your humble servant, Bhadra Govinda Dasa.
